Ilya Velchev

Writer and director, born in 1947 in Sofia. He studied film directing in VGIK, Moscow (1973). After that worked in Sofia Feature Film, Bulgarian National Television untill 1997. He is one of the creators of Television Film Centre in BNT. He wrote the books: „Impressions” (1967), „To Love Until Your Last Breath” (1972), „Kaleidoscope of Time” (1975), „The Movie of Life” (1987), „The Band” (1990), „General of Love” (1994), „The Perfect Lover’s End” (1994) etc. Ilya Velchev has written the lyrics for more than 50 songs.
He has directed feature and TV films, like The Mandoline (1973) with First Award at the International Film Festival in Bagdad ’73 and Last Chance (1984), awarded in the Festival of TV films in Prague ’86.
