John Boorman

One of Britain’s most acclaimed directors, John Boorman is known for making films resplendent with great visual flair and taut narrative. He began his career as a documentary director for the BBC before his first breakthrough project, Point Blank, in 1967. His most renowned projects include Deliverance (1972), Excalibur (1981), Hope and Glory (1987) and The General (1998). His more recent work has included The Tailor of Panama (2001), In my country (2004) and The Tiger’s Tail (2006). John Boorman has also produced all of his own films. He is 5 times Academy Award nominee and winner of 3 Festival de Cannes awards. 2013 he was awarded a fellowship of the British Film Institute.
