Nana Djordjadze

Georgian film director, screenwriter, set designer. Born in 1948 in Tbilisi. She studied architecture in Tbilisi and was an architect until 1973. In 1974 she started to study cinema at the Tbilisi film school. She has realized many projects as a costume designer, set designer and actress since 1977. In 1987 she made her first feature film Robinsonada, or My English Grandfather which won the Golden Camera at the Cannes festival for best debut. Her film A Chef in Love (1996) won several major prizes and an Oscar nomination. In 1990 she became head of a directing workshop at the Russian State Institute of Film (VGIK). She has been a member of the European Film Academy since 1994.
