Roger Allers was born in New York and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. He made his feature film debut with The Lion King (1994), which he co-directed with Rob Minkoff, following a prolific two-decade career in animation working on such Disney films as The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Aladdin (1992). He has co-directed the features Open Season (2006) and Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet (2014).
