Born in 23 november 1965 in Sofia. Graduates from University of World and National Economy in Sofia. In 1986 he starts his education in Film Directing in NATFA and in 1991 graduates with Wild Born (35 mm, 25 min). From 1995 to 2010 Paunov works as a production manager for many Bulgarian and foreign film productions. Hombre is his feature debut. Zachary Paunov died in 2014.
