Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, Wim Wenders

Juliano Ribeiro Salgado was born in 1974 in Paris, where he grew up in a Franco-Brazilian environment. In 1996, he made his first documentary for Arte – Suzana, on the use of anti-personnel mines in Angola. Other documentaries followed, made in Ethiopia, Afghanistan
and Brazil. Salgado then entered the London Film School, from which he graduated in 2003.
His 2009 film, Nauru an Island adrift, made for the Grand Format documentary unit of Arte, was selected by numerous international festivals (Hot Docs in Toronto and Le Festival Dei Populo in Florence). His documentary feature film The Salt of the Earth (2014) co-directed with Wim Wenders was selected to be screened at Cannes IFF and won The Un Certain Regard Special Prize.

Wim Wenders was born in Dusseldorf in 1945. He studied at the Munich Academy for Television and Film. Before that he studied medicine and philosophy in Germany, as well as art in Paris. He has also written film criticism. After making several movies in the mid 70s, he began to work on his cycle of „road movies". In 1982 he won the „Golden Lion” at Venice, with The State of Things. Two years later he won the „Golden Palm” for Paris, Texas. Buena Vista Socia Club is nominated for „Oscar” and BAFTA. Wim Wenders is one of the symbols of European and Independent cinema of the world.
