Lars von Trier

Danish director, born in 1956 in Copenhagen and graduated from the Danish Film Academy. One of the most controversial and celebrated filmmakers of his era, he played a central role in the development of the Dogme 95 Manifesto along with his friend Thomas Winterberg. He won the Technical Grand Prize at Cannes for his first ever feature film The Element of Crime. There, he went on to receive the Jury award for Europe, the Grand Jury prize for Breaking the Waves and “Golden Palm” for Dancer in the Dark. His films have won many other awards at renowned festivals world wide.
