Aki Kaurismaki

Finnish director, producer, screenwriter, actor and editor, born in 1957 in Orimattila. He worked as a postman, dishwasher and film critic. Together with his brother Mika they made the documentary Journey across Saimi and founded the production company “Villealfa”. Winner of Grand Prize of the Jury at Cannes for The Man Without a Past, for which he receives after that the FIPRESCI Prize for Film of the Year and Academy Award nomination for foreign language film.
