Sitora Alieva

She was born in Dushanbe (USSR). She debuted in cinema
as actress at the age of 7. In the following nine
years played about ten roles in cinema and television
films. In 1987 she graduated from the scriptwriting
and film history department of the Film Institute VGIK.
From 1987 to 1991 she worked as senior film-editor at
the studio Tadjikfilm. In 1994–1996 Alieva worked as
assistant to editor-in-chief of the journal „Film Art” and,
at the same time, Film Program Coordinator of the International
Film Festival Kinotavr in Sochi held by Kinotavr
Company Group. In 1999–2005 she becomes Director
and member of the Selection Committee of the
International Film Festival Kinotavr, the International
Film Festival Faces of Love, and the International Children’s
Arts Festival Kinotavrik. In 2002–2005 she held
the role of Executive Director of the Otkrytyj Rossijskij
Kinofestival Kinotavr, of which, since 2005 Alieva has
become the Programme and Artistic Director. During
last ten years she served in the jury at many film festivals
including Karlovy Vary, Berlinale and Venice.
